Songs were selected to echo the themes of courage and commitment seen in the military mottos of the Armed Forces, such as Air Force 31st Fighter Wing's motto "Return with Honor" and the Army 101st Airborne Division's motto, "Rendezvous with Destiny."

The Fort Carson performance was in an unusual venue, at least for a military base. Fort Carson has a performing arts center that features a small "black box" style theater; the audience of approximately 110 people could almost reach out and touch the singers from Opera Colorado.
