Dear Access Board,

I hope you will encourage widespread installation of audible pedestrian signals and detectable warnings. It took me 3 years to convince my City traffic engineer to put APS on one intersection. Considering that auto traffic keeps increasing, cars are getting quieter, and the population is aging we members of the blind and visually impaired community are in more danger than ever. As a visually impaired RN, I am particularly concerned re the increasing numbers of senior citizens developing macular degeneration. These people are often in denial of their visual loss and not always easy to identify by drivers as being visually impaired. I am in support of the Public Rights of Way Advisory Committee Recommendations re pedestrian safety.
