INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
The Indiana Department of Transportation concurs with and strongly supports
AASHTO’s
response to the proposed new ADA
accessibility guidelines. We believe that, as proposed, the draft guidelines
would put a significant burden on our ability to design and build cost effective
projects. INDOT is committed to the safe accommodation of disabled persons, and
our current design policies already incorporate many of the same beliefs the
draft guidelines are attempting to address.
We look forward to working with AASHTO and the Access Board to reach a common
ground on this issue.
