I am a 53-year-old totally blind man. My blindness was caused by a hunting accident when I was 14 years old and this accident also caused some brain damage. I have struggled all my life to be independent.

There is now an opportunity for my government to help me be more independent and to allow me access to my community. For example, I would like to be able to walk to my polling place so I can cast my vote like other American citizens. If detectqable warnings and audible signals were out there right now, I would be able to do this.But at this time it is not happening because I cannot negotiate the extremely congested and heavily traveled intersection I have to cross to get there.
