2005

• Dec 30, Added MSL landing site selection support pages
• Nov 4, Added MOLA 64ppd counts as geotiff on ftp site for clon= 180 or 0.
• Oct 21, pds2world.pl script updated to use registration parameters as defined by the PDS (doesn't mean all released PDS images are using the correct location in their headers though - be careful).
• Oct 19,All PERL scripts have been released as Windows binaries using perl2exe (Dos batch files removed). This doesn't mean you that you can't still just use the *.pl version.
• Sep 30, New release of HRSC footprints, now derived from PDS images. Includes web_ link and data_link for creation of easy "wget" download scripts.
• Sept 30, 4 more MOC NA Stereo DEMs added. See download and the readme for more.
• Sept 30, MOC footprints updated to R21 release (already working on next too).
• Sept 9, Mars Landing sites are available in the Mars general interface and for download.
• Sept 8, Maplicity interface has been updated. The on screen map scale are again accurate. Hotlinks within this interface are now accessible.
• Sept 8, Added hotlinks to Apollo Landing Site.
• Sept 2, Added Northern Plains Craters (depth/diameter) database to Mars Crater service and for download. See the readme for more info.
• Aug 28, Added 41 MOC NA stereo models for download. See the readme for more or the preliminary locator map (need to add a couple more to locator map).
• Jun 19, Added Clementine 500 m/p mosaic and color mosaic by North Western for Moon mapping interface and for download.
• May 11, Added HRSC footprints to the in Mars general web service and for download from the ftp site. Footprints are for the first public data release. Thanks goes to S. Gasselt for providing the coordinates.
• May 6, Added updated THMIS IR and Vis  footprints in Mars general web service and for download from the ftp site. Footprints go up through data release Apr 2005.
• Apr 20, Upgraded to Maplicity 4.9. Currently upgrading to ArcIMS service pack 3.
• Mar 3, The Planetary GIS Discussion site now has a new home. This site is tied into the ISIS support and allows email updates, attachments, custom themes. If you are not yet an ISIS support user, then you will need to recreate your login.
• Feb 18, The shapefile extraction service within the intermediate viewers now includes projection file (*.prj) for each clipped file within the download.
• Feb 17, Added updated THEMIS IR and Vis  footprints in Mars general web service and for download from the ftp site. Footprints go up through data release Jan 2005.
• Feb 15, Added updated MOC footprints in Mars general web service and for download from the ftp site. Footprints go up through R15028.

2004

• Dec 16, ArcIMS mapping services are getting service patch upgraded.
• Nov 12, Added updated MOLA tracks and THEMIS footprint locations to mars on-line service and for download.
• Nov 11, Added back OGC WMS 1.1.1 support for the mapping services. Still testing.
• Nov 10, Added appropriate shapefiles names for all services when using extract tool in the on-line services.
• Oct 22, Updated scale value for on-line maps and added new THEMIS footprint shapefiles for download.
• Sept 28, Testing Maplicity interface. Added ArcExplorer Web links for Jovian moons.
• August 27, Added in links for on-line mapping pages for Callisto, Europa, Ganymede, and Io. 
• August 23, All Mars bases updated and using new database engine, clip and ship feature returns better shapefile filenames, ArcWeb services (beginner interface) working again. 
• August 16, New server in place but we are experiencing some problems due to new security features.
• July 6, Switching over to new server. 
• March 31, Download the excellent and free GeoFusion Mars demo or the Java3D Virtual Globe by SINTEF and fly around Mars on your PC.
• March 23, Added the Lunar Crater Catalog entered by Jonathan McDowell from the NASA Catalog of Lunar Nomenclature to our Lunar online mapping site and our ftp site for download in a GIS format. Original data site.
• March 8, New Mars THEMIS IR / ArcMap short tutorial.
• Marc 4, Added Nomenclature hotlinks and map-a-planet jump off links inside intermediate level viewers. Ftp site has been switched to a server that can handle more traffic.
• Jan 29, Added PCI Aux support to PERL scripts for GDAL conversion and updates isis2arc for multi-band support and GDAL conversions.
• Jan 12, Make your own MOLA DEMs or point files at the University of Lyon. More at the Eos Supplement.

2003

• Nov 20, Upgraded to Maplicity 41a. Scale reads correctly for planetary bodies. Goto viewers.
• Nov 12, Changed high-resolution image for Mars services to the MDIM 2.1 and added THEMIS IR and Vis image locations with web hotlinks. Mars viewers.
• Oct 23, Added updated PERL scripts for creating GIS headers for ISIS and PDS images to support GDAL reading and conversion support.
• Oct 05, Upgraded the spatial engine to ArcIMs 4.0.1. Finally Europa, Io, Ganymede, and Callisto can be added. This also fixed the Jpeg and corresponding world file creation from Maplicity MapImager Extension.
• Oct 03, Updated ArcMap planetary projection definitions. Grab the new version from here.
• Sep 18, Added updated PERL scripts for creating GIS headers for ISIS and PDS images.
• Sep 17, Updated the MOLA 128 GIS ISIS/PDS headers and world files.
• July 28, New and improved Planetary Discussion Group. Now allows external users. click here.

• Aug 25, Start testing the Maplicity ArcIMS interface.
• Aug 25, Added the 64 pixels/deg MOLA shaded relief to the Mars services

• May 21, Upgraded ArcIMS to version 4.0.
• May 17, Updated many PERL and C programs to fix some problem areas in each program. Added the program isis2arc_swap32.c.
• Apr 26, Added in the ArcIMS Moon General online Viewer. 
• Apr 09, Added in the ancillary files from the Digital Geologic Maps of the Planets for the geologic download pages (when available).
• Apr 05, Changed the look of the Planetary pages to fit better in with the new Astogeology website.

2001

• Dec 26, Updated Grid Pig extension to fix grid to image world file error. It also supports floating point grids when converting to an RGB image.
• Dec 20, Updated Grid Pig extension to add a Z factor to the hillshade routine. Also added in the unsigned to signed routine into Grid Pig.
• Nov 19, Added updated create_world.pl and new isis2world.pl perl programs.
• Sept 26, Added a new version of the planetary projection ArcView extension. This fixes problems with reading enumerated types. Also update the GridPig extension with a few bug fixes.
• Aug 31, Added a preliminary online site for the Moon. This site will be upgraded to the ArcIMS solution shortly.
• Apr 12, Added Mars geologic downloads in ArcView shapefile format  and associated files for Mars.
• Mar 03, Updated Mars General ArcView pages to use a Martian scalebar.
• Feb 12, Updated MOLA locations up to cd 2033 and MOC cumindex footprints to cd 1098.
• Feb 12, Added new MER ellipse figures based on the nine high priority landing sites.

2000

• Dec 15, MOLA location tracks from cds 2019 to 2031 have been added to the Mars ArcViewIMS pages. Lines connecting discontinuous orbits still exist. The ArcIMS mapping software has been reestablished, although not all services have been added. This site still may need to be disconnected for short periods of time.
• Dec 7, The Webgis server had to be reinstalled and some links may still be broken. The ArcIMS mapping software has not yet been reestablished. The ArcViewIMS mapping software is functioning. This site also may need to be disconnected for short periods of time. Sorry for the inconvenience.

• Nov 17, Added Downloads - Geologic maps in ArcView shapefile format  and associated files for Mercury, Ganymede, Io, Callisto and the Moon
• Oct 25, Added MDIM 2 to the MER A/B Lander 2003 and Mars General ArcView pages. Because the MDIM 2 image is much higher resolution than the MDIM 1 images on this web site we have made it scale dependant. You will only be able to see it when zoomed in.
• Oct 04, Add Mars  MER A/B Lander 2003 page. The MER A/B PIGWAD mapping site will soon contain a ellipse and stats generator.
• Oct 03, Removed Lander 2001/2003 mapping page to make room for a new Mars Exploration Rover mapping page.
• Oct 03,Added in a link for the Global GIS project website at the top level.
• Aug 17, Added MOLA track locations thru 2018 and MOC footprints thru MGSC_1048 on Mars General HTML Page.
•  Updated Tutorial Links Page and added new PIGWAD tutorials 
• July 26, Added ArcView scripts to the service (linked to the GIS Tools and Scripts page).  Added additional links for both planetary resources and ArcView resources.  
• Jun 23, Several 500K geologic maps added to a geologic map service. Currently, the only way to add these files to your view is in one of the Java Web viewers or the stand alone application ArcExplorer Java Version 3.0, which can be downloaded from here for Windows and Solaris. Then use the "plus" icon to add an ArcIms service and type in this web site: webgis.wr.usgs.gov
• Jun 22, ArcIms successfully installed.
• Jun 16, Pages will up and down for updates. We are working on installing the non-beta release of ArcIMS.
• Apr 21, The Mars General HTML Viewer has been modified to give correct scales on Mars and hyperlinks for MOC images on IDA.  Next on the list is to fix the Java versions.
