The EPA Region 6 Office of Environmental Justice and Tribal Affairs exists to enhance relationships with American Indian Nations and Environmental Justice communities by encouraging collaborative approaches to resolving difficult situations. Our office acts as an advocate for the communities we serve. We strive to ensure that environmental justice communities and Tribes are meaningfully involved in the development and implementation of laws, regulations, and policies designed to protect the environment. Our Office partners with federally recognized tribes located in Region 6 on a government-to-government basis, consistent with their inherent sovereignty. We focus on developing collaborative partnerships with communities, other government agencies and tribal organizations to jointly address the environmental impacts in environmentally stressed communities.
