Stakeholder Involvement
The stakeholders involved in this initiative include state and local DOTs,
transit agencies, MPOs, suppliers of transportation management systems, and
organizations that represent these groups of stakeholders.
The USDOT is engaging stakeholders through stakeholder meetings, workshops
and an RFI. A key stakeholder group has been established that will meet several
times a year for the duration of the initiative. The intent is to provide detailed
input on scope and direction of the initiative through all phases. Stakeholders
will be key to determining the operational requirements for the initiative.
Ultimately, stakeholders will be responsible for implementing the integrated
corridor management strategies developed as part of this initiative. Therefore,
stakeholder review and input will be critical to the success of this program.
Workshops
General outreach meetings or workshops will also be scheduled periodically
to present key results to the broader community. The goal of this initiative
is to advance the state of the practice in integrated corridor management,
so there will be activities to distribute the results of all phases of this
initiative.
An initial stakeholder workshop was held in December, 2004 to inform
stakeholders of about the initiative and solicit input on the schedule and
scope. At the meeting, DOT discussed the program plan and overall schedule
with stakeholders. Since the original workshop, quarterly updates via web
seminars were conducted with the stakeholder group. Results of the workshops
and seminars, including meeting minutes and handouts, are posted on ITS America's
site at http://www.itsa.org/icm.html.
The current ICM program plan and vision statement were last updated in February
2006 and are also posted. Announcements of the general outreach meetings as
they are scheduled will also be posted on this same web site.
Requests for Information (RFI)
An RFI (Reference-Number-DTFH61-05-RFI-21605)
was open February 16, 2005 to April 18, 2005 . The objective of this
RFI was to seek broad stakeholder input and interest on the vision, goals,
and approach of the ICM Initiative and to identify and gather information
on tried, existing, and potential corridor operations strategies, including
components of corridor operations strategies. We received input from
18 sites and used the input in the update of the program plan for the initiative.
Upcoming Events
In the fall of 2006, the US DOT will hold a web seminar on the concept of
operations for ICM through the National Transportation Operations Coalition
(NTOC) and initiate work with the selected ICM Pioneer sites.
More information on locations and dates for specific meetings will be posted
on the ITS
America site as it becomes available.
How Can I Get Involved?
As noted above an RFI was issued seeking input from stakeholders on this
initiative, and several stakeholder workshops are planned. Stakeholders may,
on occasion, be added to the already established stakeholder group. The ICM
Pioneer Sites are expected to become key members of the stakeholder group.
However, additional stakeholders are always needed so that deployments of integrated
corridor management strategies will take place in corridors throughout the
country.
