Research Project: REUSE OF SALINE WASTEWATERS FOR CROP PRODUCTION

Location: Water Reuse and Remediation

Project Number: 5310-13210-009-03
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 26, 2006
End Date: Jul 31, 2011

Objective:
To develop technology for reusing saline wastewaters differing in mineral ion concentration for production of agronomic and horticultural crops.

Approach:
Conduct additional research on the following: a) Conduct greenhouse and lysimeter studies to determine the effect of salinity applied at different stages of growth on the productivity of selected crops, and b) Develop non-invasive methods for remote detection of salinity stress in selected horticultural and agronomic crops.
