State and Local Technology Resources for Virginia

Helps eligible applicants obtain low-interest loans for a wide variety of special equipment (i.e., assistive technology). This includes loans for wheelchairs, motorized scooters, Braille equipment, hearing aids, low vision aids, communication systems and more.

Provides training, information and technical assistance on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to businesses, consumers, schools and government agencies within the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Serves people who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families, friends, co-workers, employers and business and government agencies that serve deaf and hard of hearing people through advocacy, technical assistance and educational and outreach activities.

Provides individuals with disabilities access, support and knowledge regarding technology, including short-term equipment lending.

Works to advance the independence, productivity and quality of life for individuals with disabilities and their families. Services include assistive technology, day programs and health services.

Ensures that Virginians of all ages and abilities can acquire the appropriate, affordable assistive and information technologies and services they need to participate in society as active citizens.

Promotes, protects and preserves the rights and quality of life of deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Supports the employment, education and independence of Virginians who are blind or visually impaired.

The foundation of all programs at VDDHH is communication--both as a service (through interpreters, technology and other modes) and as a means of sharing information for public awareness (through training and education).
