Pulaski County, Ark., receives $3 million Brownfields grant

Pulaski County Arkansas received $3 million in Grants from the U.S. Environmental Agency to establish a Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund.

The County, in a coalition with Little Rock and North Little Rock, will offer funding and technical assistance for environmental cleanup and redevelopment of Brownfields properties.

The new grant increases funding options for developers in Pulaski County. It complements the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality's Brownfield Revolving Loan Program that was originally funded by the EPA in 2003.

Initial projects under consideration include Audubon Arkansas, which plans to build a community center and education facility for the Fourche Creek Restoration project, an Urban River Initiative pilot, and Main Street Argenta, for redeveloping North Little Rock along the Arkansas River. Both groups are local non-profit organizations.
