Department of Justice to Receive Written Comments and Hold Hearings on the Preliminary Determination of ADA Equivalency for the North Carolina Accessibility Code

The Department of Justice will receive written comments and hold public hearings in North Carolina and Washington, D.C., on the Department’s March 17, 2005, preliminary determination that the North Carolina Accessibility Code meets or exceeds the new construction and alterations requirements for buildings and facilities under title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The hearing in North Carolina will be held May 16, 2005, at 1:00 PM at the Bond Park Community Center, which is located at 150 Metro Park Drive, Cary, North Carolina.

The hearing in Washington, D.C., will be held June 20, 2005, at 1:00 PM in Suite 4039 [the offices of the Disability Rights Section of the Civil Rights Division, Department of Justice], 1425 New York Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C.
