An article on emergency department triage of chest pain patients appeared in the July 2002 Research Activities. An incorrect affiliation was given for Harry Selker, M.D., AHRQ's principal investigator, who led the development and testing of the two electrocardiograph-based triage tools. Dr. Selker is with Tufts-New England Medical Center. In addition, results from recent clinical trials of the two instruments have been published, as follows:
Selker, H.P., Beshansky, J.R., Griffith, J.L., and others. "The use of the Acute Cardiac Ischemia Time-Insensitive Predictive Instrument (ACI-TIPI) to assist emergency department triage of patients with chest pain or other symptoms suggestive of acute cardiac ischemia: A multicenter controlled clinical trial." Annals of Internal Medicine 129(11):845-855, 1998.
Selker, H.P., Beshansky, J.R., and Griffith, J.L., for the TPI Trial Investigators. "Use of the electrocardiograph-based thrombolytic predictive instrument to assist thrombolytic and reperfusion therapy for acute myocardial infarction: A multicenter randomized controlled clinical effectiveness trial." Annals of Internal Medicine 137(2):87-95, 2002.
