MUTCD Community Of Practice

If you have already read the description below previously about the MUTCD Community of Practice. You may go directly to the MUTCD Community of Practice.

The MUTCD discussion area has been moved to the new FHWA Operations Knowledge Communities site. This new online "communities of practice" supports an open exchange of knowledge, information, experience, and ideas on key highway operations topics. The new site provides the MUTCD community with enhanced capabilities to ask questions, get answers, network, and easily stay up to date.

Participants are reminded that the purpose of this Knowledge Exchange is to transfer the latest generic information related to Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Its purpose is not to solicit, advertise, nor provide information on proprietary materials, products or process availability, court cases, or advertisements. Discussions related to product promotion, court cases or decisions related to traffic violations, inappropriate language, and other similar discussions will be deleted from the web site. Our appreciation is extended to all readers for paying close attention to this matter.

Community Topic Areas

The discussion area has been divided into topic areas to make it easier to ask questions and find information. The current MUTCD topic areas are:

• Improving Traffic Control and Mobility for Our Older Population

Each Topic Area Contains

• Discussion: Similar to the prior MUTCD discussion area.
• References: An area where new reference information and links related to the topic will be provided
• Directory: A community directory listing where any participant can choose to list themselves as a transportation professional interested in this topic area.
• Email Notification: Keep up to date with a once-per-day email newsletter of new information, questions, and answers posted to the site (see below for details).

MUTCD News

The MUTCD News topic replaces the previous MUTCD Broadcast LISTSERV. All subscribers of the previous listserv have been subscribed to this topic area and will receive an email announcement of new information. The information will also be housed on the site for future reference.

Optional Email Newsletter

The Operations Knowledge Communities provide an optional email newsletter that delivers a once-per-day summary of all new information, questions, and answers posted to the site. You can opt to receive information regarding only those topic areas that are of interest to you. It's an easy way to stay up to date without having to visit the Web site every day. Click the "e-Mail Notification" icon to subscribe.

NOTE: a profile has already been created for members of the previous MUTCD Broadcast LISTSERV, subscribing them to the MUTCD News topic. LISTSERV members can follow the quick instructions on the e-Mail Notification page to update their preferences.
