U.S. Imports of Merchandise
Every month the Census Bureau surveys the nation's importers to gather the latest data on U.S. trade. You can only get the detailed monthly or quarterly data showing U.S. imports, with coverage for 17,000 import commodities from the Foreign Trade Division. Data are available on a monthly or quarterly basis through an annual subscription or for a given month or quarter which may be purchased separately.
The December disc is the cumulative file with statistics for the entire year and each month.
In addition, the Census Bureau offers training to educate company representatives about the Automated Export System & U.S. export laws.
Note: Users can research export commodity codes online. The U.S. International Trade Commission likewise maintains an online site for checking import commodity codes. Users can purchase the export code manual and supplements (Schedule B) in print from the U.S. Government Printing Office.
