Material and Price Change for 3/4" Garden Hose Wye Valve and Shut-Off Valve
The 2008 GSA Fire Catalog describes both of these items as made from brass or corrosion-resistant steel. However, contract difficulties have prevented GSA from transitioning from die-cast zinc to brass or corrosion-resistant steel products. Therefore, these items will continue to be supplied as die-cast zinc at the following prices:
AA Battery - Change in Standard Pack & Pallet Quantity Page 24 of the 2008 GSA Wildland Fire Equipment Catalog lists the AA battery (NSN 6135-00-985-7845) with a standard pack of 12 and a pallet quantity of 1,440 packages (120 cases, each containing 12 packages). Due to a contract change, the standard pack and pallet quantity have changed. The new standard pack is eight (8) packages per shipping container. Each package (PG) is the unit of issue and contains 24 batteries for $4.20. The pallet quantity is now 1,488 packages (186 cases, each containing eight (8) packages). This information is provided for customers who wish to purchase in case or pallet quantities. The minimum order is the unit of issue (PG of 24 batteries.) [Posted May 21, 2008.]
Fire Shelter Retrofit The Forest Service requested a retrofit on regular size fire shelter polyvinyl bags to reinforce the pull strap. (See Cache Memorandum CM07-4 for details.) GSA has adequate stock of the complete fire shelter (NFES 0925 and NSN 4240-01-498-3194) with the retrofit in place.
GSA now has inventory of the single, regular size shelter (NFES 0926 and NSN 4240-01-498-3184) that includes the retrofit modification. Previous purchasers of this item should perform the field retrofit process as outlined in CM07-4. [Posted May 12, 2008.]
State and Local Users State and local wildland fire customers registering on GSA Advantage for the first time will notice that the site directs state and local entities to a separate registration form. Do Not Use This Form. Instead, register as a federal agency. For your "agency" select "Department of Agriculture" and for your "bureau" select the "Forest Service". If you use the alternate form for "State and Local Government User," you will not be able to view or order wildland fire equipment from GSA. The alternate form is intended for customers that lack an Activity Address Code and limits their access to specific programs (e.g., Cooperative Purchasing [IT] or Disaster Recovery). Using this alternate form will also prevent the customer from using the GSA Global Supply site. [Posted April 30, 2008.]
New BDU-Style Pants GSA will offer BDU-style firefighter's pants made from a kevlar/nomex blend. The 10 most popular sizes will be offered initially. Due to contracting issues and material availability, we do not anticipate having stock during the 2008 fire season. (See page 34 of the 2008 catalog for information on this product and currently available pants.) [Posted April 3, 2008.]
