Fourth Round of Six-Party Talks: St. Regis WalkthroughChristopher R. Hill, Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific AffairsBeijing, China July 31, 2005 QUESTION: Are you going to have a bilateral meeting today?
A/S HILL: I just met with Ambassador Song Min-Soon, from the R.O.K., and we just had a little chat about where we are in the process. It’s been one week now that we arrived in Beijing. Today there’s a drafting committee meeting at the negotiation site, and we look forward to hearing a report on how the drafting is going. I want to caution everyone that it’s a lot of work to look at a document and go line by line by line. We’re dealing in several languages; Chinese, Korean, Russian, Japanese, English. So it’s going to take a while, but things are moving and we have to see how it goes. So, good to see you all.
QUESTION: Any chance to see North Korean delegation today?
A/S HILL: I don’t have any plans right now, but we see all the delegations all the time, so I’m sure we’ll see each other at some point. Released on August 3, 2005 |
