As a visually impaired, legally blind person, I could not leave my house without
accessible pedestrian signals and detectable warnings. These signals allow me to
cross a major highway and perform daily living chores without assistance.
I have personally advocated for audible signals in my town of Southborough, MA
through the Mass Highway Department. The work is not finished. But I and other
visually impaired individuals heavily rely on these pedestrian safety aids for
our independence. I urge you to support them.
Sincerely,
Betty Soderholm
