Mission:
The mission of the Biological Engineering Research Unit of the Roman L. Hruska U.S. Meat Animal Research Center is: (1) to evaluate the effects of environmental stressors such as temperature, humidity, drafts, toxic gases, and biological agents on animal bioenergetics, physiology, behavior, productivity and efficiency; (2) to develop and evaluate methods to monitor and manage beef cattle feedlot wastes for effective, environmentally safe utilization; and (3) to develop models for management decision-making and design recommendations.
