Technical Abstract: In 2006, we collected 12203 biting flies from a vesicular stomatitis outbreak in Natrona County, Wyoming. Flies were identified to the species level and viruses were isolated and identified by RT-PCR. We detected vesicular stomatitis virus-New Jersey serotype in two pools of Simulium bivittatum, West Nile virus in a pool of Culex tarsalis, and bluetongue virus in a pool of Culicoides sonorensis.
