Aaron Hastings is a physical scientist in the Acoustics Facility at the John A. Volpe National Transportation Systems Center. He joined the center in 2005. His primary responsibilities include FHWA's TNM, where he supports validation, field measurements, technical support and software development. Aaron is also the principal lead on the development of a TNM / INM hybrid modeling solution for modeling over-snow vehicle acoustics in the National Parks.

Dr. Hastings academic research has focused on the development of sound quality metrics for automotive noise and has involved monaural and binaural measurements, acoustic signal processing, system modeling, psychoacoustics, and subjective testing techniques. He has publications in the Noise Control Engineering Journal, International Speech Communication Association Research Workshop, Proceedings of Inter-Noise, and the International Congress of Acoustics.
