Mission
To provide safe and healthy workplaces for our employees and visitors, to protect the environment while conducting research, and to serve as a resource for our research unit, location, and others.

Team Profile
The Poisonous Plant Research Lab Safety Team was organized in May 1991.  There are four members drawn from the various disciplines of the research staff:

  • Terrie Wierenga, Team Leader; Biological Safety Technician

  • Kermit Price; Range Technician

  • Dale Gardner; Research Chemist

  • Rex Probst; Animal Caretaker

The Safety Team provides assistance to the research mission of PPRL in several ways: conduct facility safety inspections twice a year; organize cleanup days in different areas (barns, labs, storage rooms); maintenance of safety equipment; training; and implementation of the many regulations from OSHA, EPA, USDA, ARS, state of Utah, Logan municipal codes, etc.
