For hourly paid workers, earnings for the pay period are divided by the number of days worked. Earnings data include base pay, salaries, and payments based on the number of flight hours reported. Premium pay for overtime, reimbursement for meals and lodging, field pay, and nonproduction or other lump-sum payments were excluded. See Scope and Method of Survey for definitions and methods used to compute means, medians, and middle ranges. 2 The overall occupation for fixed-wing aircraft pilots includes data for workers not identified by type of equipment. 3 Less than 0.5 percent.
