Summary
The European Union promotes and finances a handful of environmental projects. This report summarizes the major sources of EU financial assistance that can be used to complement environmental project finance. U.S. companies exporting environmental products are advised to look out for business opportunities through public procurement calls for tender. U.S. companies looking to pursue environmental projects through work, supplies or service contracts may consider researching EU-funded programs. Working through EU-funded programs is time consuming and involves a lot of red tape, but the proportion of European Commission co-financing in environmental projects is usually rather high.
