WEEE/RoHS: Further Info & Assistance

Further Information & Assistance

We strive to make these pages as useful as possible to U.S. companies. However, if you feel you need more information or assistance on WEEE & RoHS compliance, this page may help.

Click here for details of service providers who can help you with WEEE and RoHS compliance.

If you have additional questions not covered on this website, please send an email to the following address: Brussels.EC.Office.Box@N0SPAM.mail.doc.gov and reference "WEEE/RoHS Inquiry" in the subject line. One of our specialists will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible.

Country Information

Don't forget! The EU's WEEE and RoHS Directives are implemented in EU countries by national WEEE and RoHS regulations. These vary considerably from country to country. We therefore strongly urge U.S. companies to get further information on WEEE and RoHS in the countries that interest them by clicking here.

Useful External Links

Click here for the European Commission's official WEEE/RoHS web pages. These contain information on the legislation, on RoHS exemptions, stakeholder consultations, and other information.

Click here for the European Commission's "Comitology Register". This is an official EU site where you can search for documents relating to the activities of the EU committee (made up of representatives of the Member State governments and chaired by the European Commission) that manages various aspects of the implementation of the WEEE and RoHS Directives, including RoHS exemptions and harmonization work. This site can be difficult to navigate for the uninitiated, so please feel free to ask for our assistance. The search function is probably the most useful. It is important to select the right committee in the drop-down. This committee is called:
"ENV Committee for the adaptation to scientific and technical progress and implementation of the directives on waste"

Click here for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. This organization maintains a useful page on WEEE & RoHS implementation. The link above is to their home page, from which you can navigate to the WEEE/RoHS Implementation page via the Market Intelligence tab.

Click here for the WEEE Forum, which provides information on recycling schemes across Europe. It is the largest grouping of compliance schemes. Note that there are compliance schemes in every EU country, but that not all of them are members of the WEEE Forum. Note also that many compete with each other, but that in some EU countries, there is a monopoly take-back scheme.

EU Governments
The UK Government provides a substantial amount of useful guidance, in English. Please note, however, that this guidance, while useful for understanding basic WEEE/RoHS concepts applied around Europe, concerns only the UK.
