My name is Ernie Wright [...]. I am a member of the Pennsylvania Council of the
Blind, an affiliate of the American Council of the Blind.
I am writing to express my support for audible traffic signals. I am visually
impaired and travel independently locally and to larger cities. It is very
difficult for me to tell when the light is green or if the walk light is on. I
do listen for the traffic, but right on red makes the situation unsafe, since I
have a glare problem, no peripheral vision and very little central vision Thus,
an audible traffic signal would make this situation at busy and noisy
intersections safer.
Sincerely,
Ernie Wright and guide dog Slate
