To whom it may concern:
I am an Orientation and Mobility instructor at the
Living Skills Center for the Visually Impaired in San Pablo, California.
Our center is located in an urban area with many complex intersections
that are traffic actuated. These signals would be inaccessible to many
of our students if we did not have audible signals. I am writing to
encourage the continued use of APS as a way for people with visual
impairments to access their communities. We do not feel that these
signals take away the need to use good crossing judgment; they are
simply a way to allow people to check their timing. I would like to
have continued support for this concept.
Thank you,
