21st Century Workforce Summit The Summit on the 21st Century Workforce, held June 20 in Washington, D.C., was a rousing success as business, labor, academic, and government leaders from across the country met to address the structural changes that are affecting our workforce and our economy. Attendees listened to a distinguished list of speakers and panelists discussing the skills gap within the workforce, the demographics facing the workforce, and the future of the workforce. (See AGENDA for a list of the speakers and the day's events. The entire event was webcast live on www.dol.gov. In addition to the proceedings on the floor, the Summit was host to a regional Job Fair that featured more than 125 local employers. Noting that the Summit was actually enabling job seekers to find work, Secretary Chao said: "We are discussing the theoretical and offering the practical."
