Please implement the PROWAC recommendations. Pedestrian access signals are one
tool helping us determine vehicular traffic. With the prevalence of "right on
red," especially here in Anchorage, Alaska, and the electric cars gaining
popularity, these are more important tools than ever. The pedestrian access
signals have been studied for years, and we must level the playing field for
those who are blind and visually impaired. The political agendas of some should
not weigh in on the safety and life and death issues the signals represent.
Studies show the efficacy of these signals, and this alone was one of the main
topics of our Alaska Independent Blind convention in 2000.
