I am writing to make known my support of detectable warnings and accessible pedestrian signals in the proposed regulations from the Public Rights of Way Advisory committee known as PROWAC. It is time to put an end to the unnecessary risk of harm to blind people.

I am a member of the Commission on Disabilities for Salem, Massachusetts and a Recreation Therapist. I have worked with patients and clients in hospitals, rehab centers, nursing homes and community agencies. Many of my clients and patients have discussed with me their mobility challenges. For those who are blind or have very limited vision these warnings and signals would greatly enhance their mobility safety and independence. I urge your support on this issue. Thank You!
