Transportation Annual Survey (BT)

Prior to 1996 this report was known as the Motor Freight Transportation and Warehousing Survey. A new sample was introduced for 1996 and businesses were asked to provide data for two consecutive years, 1995 and 1996. The additional year of data was used to "link" the estimates derived from the new and old samples.

This survey represents all employer firms with one or more establishments that are engaged in commercial motor freight transportation and public warehousing services. Statistics in this report are summarized by kind-of-business classification.

This report provides detailed estimates of operating revenues and expenses, as well as inventories of revenue-generating freight equipment for the trucking industry at the United States level.
