E-Prescribing Transactions

A flow chart showing prescribing transactions. The chart begins with a PDA with a medication list and safety alerts. From the PDA, the prescription can flow through two systems. The first system is RxHub. Before getting to RxHub, arrows pass "NCPDP script" and a list that reads:

• Eligibility
• Formulary
• Medical history

From RxHub, bidirectional arrows flow to Caremark, Express Scripts, Medco, and Wellpt.

The second system is SureScripts and others. Before getting to SureScripts and others, arrows pass a list that reads:

• Medical history
• Formulary

From SureScripts and others bidirectional arrows flow to Retail Pharmacy.
