Building a True Community: Recommendations for Accessible Public Rights-of-Way
This report provides recommendations for new guidelines to be developed by the Access Board for accessible public rights-of-way. Submitted to the Board in 2001 by an advisory committee it had chartered, these recommendations address various components of public streets, including sidewalks, street fixtures and furnishings, pedestrian, parking, and other components of public rights-of-way. The Public Rights-of-Way Access Advisory Committee was composed of 33 members representing disability organizations, public works departments, transportation and traffic engineering groups, design professionals and civil engineers, government agencies, and standards-setting bodies.
