Figure 12 is a photograph of a pedestrian using a long white cane to travel along a public sidewalk. He is approaching and about to contact a protruding object mounted to a post well above the cane detectable height of 27 inches. The projection of the mounted device is approximately 18 inches into the path of the pedestrian at chest height and above. The upper body of the pedestrian is fully obscured by the device.
