NOTICE TO NEW ENGLAND FARM WORKERS AND GROWERS LABOR DEPARTMENT TO HOLD ANNUAL PUBLIC MEETING ON LAWS AND PROGRAMS AFFECTING FARM EMPLOYMENT, IN WINDSOR, CONN., AUG. 2

BOSTON, MA — The U.S. Department of Labor will hold a public meeting for farm workers, growers, farm labor contractors and other interested parties on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, 153 Cook Hill Road, in Windsor, Conn.

The meeting is held each year in a different part of New England as an information resource and sounding board for farm workers, growers, service providers and other individuals involved with migrant and seasonal labor, according to Corlis L. Sellers, regional administrator of the Labor Department's Wage & Hour Division,

In attendance will be representatives from the Labor Department's Wage & Hour Division, Employment and Training Administration, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. These Labor Department agencies enforce and administer various Federal labor laws relating to agricultural, seasonal and migrant labor.

Speakers will discuss their programs and answer questions on a variety of topics, including Federal wage and hour laws, the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, the H-2A program, safety and health, child labor in agriculture, and wage standards. Sellers noted that a large part of the program will be devoted to questions and presentations from interested parties.
