      COMMERCE OFFICIALS TO BRIEF REPORTERS ON LATEST SURVEY
                   OF MINORITY-OWNED BUSINESSES

  Top Commerce Department officials will hold a news conference to discuss
findings from the most recent Survey of Minority-Owned Business
Enterprises (SMOBE).  Analysts will look at growth and revenue patterns,
as well as employment and payroll data.  The report Economic Census Survey
of Minority-Owned Business Enterprises Company Statistics Series, includes
data at the national, state, selected place and metropolitan area levels.
