H.B. FULLER CO., ST. PAUL, MINN., PAYS $51,773 IN BACK WAGES TO 18 EMPLOYEES FOR ALLEGED OVERTIME VIOLATI0NS
Chicago H.B. Fuller Company, St. Paul, Minn., has paid $51,773 to 18 employees to resolve overtime violations alleged by the U.S. Department of Labor.
An investigation of the firm by the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division found that the employer had misclassified employees as exempt professionals.
Denise Scharlemann, district director of the Labor Department’s Wage and Hour Division in Minneapolis stated, "H. B. Fuller Company officials cooperated fully in correcting this error and took immediate corrective action to come into compliance."
The Wage and Hour Division of the Labor Department's Employment Standards Administration enforces the Fair Labor Standards Act. The law sets a federal minimum wage of $4.75 for most workers and generally requires overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in any workweek. The FLSA also requires employers to keep adequate time and payroll records.
The investigation was conducted by the Wage and Hour District Office, 220 South Second Street, Minneapolis, Minn., under the supervision of Denise Scharlemann, district director.
