Technical Assistance
ODEP has funded four Technical Assistance (TA) centers to provide technical assistance and training to ODEP's demonstration projects and the workforce investment system. The TA centers also play a key role in policy development by collecting and disseminating materials and best practices in order to advise ODEP, the demonstration projects, and the workforce development system on disability employment policy issues.
- The National Center on Workforce and Disability for Adults (NCWD/A) and the National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability for Youth (NCWD/Y) support ODEP demonstration projects, identify and collect effective practices, and provide policy analysis and information to ODEP about employment and disability. Both centers have formed partnerships with other programs, experts, organizations, employers, and national programs. They also serve as repositories for their materials, approaches, and results for their respective target audiences.
- The Training and Technical Assistance for Providers (T-TAP) was created to increase the capacity of Community Rehabilitation Programs (CRPs) and other community-based organizations that use the "Special Minimum Wage" program established under Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act. T-TAP targets providers with programs currently resulting in segregated, sub-minimum wage employment or non-work outcomes for people with disabilities to help these programs transition to programs that promote integrated employment outcomes in non-stereotypical jobs.
- The Chronic Homelessness Employment Technical Assistance Center (CHETA) provides technical assistance support to the chronically homeless demonstration projects created out of a coordinated effort between the Departments of Labor and Housing and Urban Development to address the problem of chronic unemployment from the perspectives of housing and employment.
