Hurricane Ike hits Texas
Sept. 15, 2008: Hurricane Ike caused significant damage to historic places in Texas.
The Texas Historical Commission is preparing to send teams to the affected areas and are looking for architects and those experienced in storm recovery to volunteer their expertise in a week or so out.

Hurricane Gustav hits the Gulf Coast
Sept. 3, 2008: While all indications point to Hurricane Gustav being less dangerous than many had predicted, reports are beginning to come in from affected states, which have sustained significant damage both on the coast and inland.
The National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers (NCSHPO) is the professional association of the State government officials who carry out the national historic preservation program as delegates of the Secretary of the Interior pursuant to the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended (16 USC 470).
