Research Project: EVALUATION AND SELECTION OF PEANUT GERMPLASM AND CULTIVARS IN SOUTHEAST AND SOUTHWEST ALABAMA

Objective:
To evaluate peanut germplasm and cultivars to develop improved cultivars for enhanced peanut production and efficiency.

Approach:
Existing peanut germplasm and cultivars will be planted under irrigated and non-irrigated production practices at the Auburn University Wiregrass Experiment Station in Headland, AL and at the Auburn University Experiment Station in Fairhope, AL. From these plots, evaluations will be made to select for improved water use efficiency, resistance to tomato spotted wilt virus, and other favorable agronomic characteristics.
