Research Project:
PACIFIC NORTHWEST WIND MODELING
Location: Land Management and Water Conservation Research
Project Number: 5348-11000-004-01
Project Type:
Specific Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Jul 22, 2003
End Date: Apr 30, 2008
Objective:
Obtain and analyze historical and new wind, rainfall and associated climatic data for multiple regions of the Pacific Northwest to develop relationships for predictions of wind erosion, soil water conservation and airborne particulates.
Approach:
Obtain historical climatic data sets additional to those already accumulated for the Pacific Northwest region. These are to be analyzed for improving predictive relationships of wind erosion and soil water regimes for various methods of farming and conservation tillage systems. These data and analyses will be carefully coordinated with on-going projects of the USDA/ARS for development and calibration of wind and water modeling. Emphasis will be for analyses of climatic data and soil erodibility characteristics pertinent to both wind erosion and fine dust emissions. This work is a continuation of Agmt. #58-5348-7-982 (5348-11000-002-05S). Documents SCA with WSU. Formerly 5328-11000-003-08S (2/05).
