WASHINGTON – The U. S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) Office of Governmentwide Policy (OGP) is seeking candidates for the biennial Travel and Relocation Innovation Award, which honors excellence in federal travel and relocation policy.

"OGP has conducted formal award programs for best practices in several of our policy areas for many years, and we are pleased to recognize travel and relocation as well,” said Stan Kaczmarczyk, GSA Deputy Associate Administrator for
Governmentwide Policy.

Sponsored by OGP’s Office of Travel, Transportation, and Asset Management, this year’s competition is open to all federal employees. The winner will be recognized during the 2008 National Travel Forum in Atlanta, which takes place from June 3-6.
For more information regarding the event, visit www.nationaltravelforum.org.

“GSA employees, along with many others across the federal government, have made tremendous contributions to achieving greater effectiveness and efficiency in travel and relocation policies,” said Becky Rhodes, GSA Deputy Associate Administrator, Office of Travel, Transportation, and Asset Management.  “We strive to recognize innovative achievements that benefit the entire federal community at the best value to taxpayers.”

The deadline for individual and team entries is March 31.  The award and entry form are available at www.gsa.gov/travelrelocationaward.  For further information contact Jane Groat at jane.groat@gsa.gov or (202) 501-4318.

Founded in 1949, GSA serves as a centralized procurement and property management agency for the federal government.  GSA manages more than one-fourth of the government’s total procurement dollars and influences the management of $500 billion in federal assets, including 8,600 government-owned or leased buildings and 208,000 vehicles.  GSA helps preserve our past and define our future, as a steward of more than 425 historic properties, and as manager of USA.gov, the official portal to federal government information and services. GSA’s mission to provide superior workplaces, expert technology solutions, acquisition services, purchasing and E-Gov travel solutions and management policies, at best value, allows federal agencies to focus on their core missions.
