GSA Awards Task Order for Missile Defense Agency Enterprise Info ManagementGSA # 9989 November 5, 2002 WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) competitively awarded a performance-driven task order providing enterprise-wide information management (IM) and information technology (IT) services for the Department of Defense (DoD) Missile Defense Agency (MDA). GSA's Federal Systems Integration and Management Center (FEDSIM), a program of GSA's Federal Technology Service (FTS), awarded the task order to Science Research & Applications Corporation (SRA) of Arlington, VA, through GSA's Millennia contract. The task order is for two and one-half years, if all options are exercised, and has an estimated value of over $20 million. Requirements call for SRA to include providing information architecture and engineering support to help establish an MDA Enterprise Information Management System by defining existing information needs and developing information architectures that can be used to consolidate and improve existing IM systems. The task order also requires SRA to develop enterprise IM and IT policies, processes, and procedures that provide governance of the system. The task order includes an option, with an optional task to prototype a state-of-the-industry MDA Enterprise IM System. The Missile Defense Agency (MDA), formerly known as the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO), manages, directs, and executes one of the most technologically complex programs ever undertaken by DoD. FEDSIM offers a wide range of support for planning, developing, acquiring, implementing, maintaining, and managing IT resources and support services. Managing over $1.4 billion in new IT acquisitions in 2002, FEDSIM has a proven track record of developing innovative and award-winning solutions to government IT problems and satisfying requirements for specific IT products and services. GSA is a centralized federal procurement and property management agency created by Congress to improve government efficiency and help federal agencies better serve the public. It acquires, on behalf of federal agencies, office space, equipment, telecommunications, information technology, supplies, and services. GSA, comprised of 14,000 associates, provides services and solutions for the office operations of over 1 million federal workers located in 8,300 government-owned and leased buildings in 1,600 U.S. communities.
