WASHINGTON – Eight U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) executives are among those within government, industry and academia who will be honored at next month's annual Federal 100 Awards gala, the agency announced today. 

The event, hosted by Federal Computer Week, recognizes those judged to have had a significant impact on the government’s use of information technology. The 19th annual Federal 100 Awards gala will be held March 24 in McLean, Virginia. 

“I am very proud of these honorees,” said GSA Administrator Lurita Doan. “Their outstanding efforts have helped GSA use technology to simplify citizen access to official information and services, and provide superior service to our government customers.  Their success has helped foster a closer bond between Americans and their government.”

Winners must first be nominated for the Federal 100 by their peers in the federal IT community; an independent panel of judges then selects the winners.  GSA employees among the Federal 100 are:

• Jim Williams, Commissioner of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service (FAS);
  
• Steven Kempf, Acting Assistant Commissioner for Acquisition Management, FAS;
  
• Stephen Duncan, Deputy Program Manager of the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 Managed Services Office;
  
• Perryn Ashmore, Director of the Center for Applied Solutions in GSA’s Office of the Chief Information Officer;
  
• John “Jack” Braun, Contract Price/Cost Analyst, FAS; and,
  
• Darlene Meskell, Director of Intergovernmental Solutions, GSA Office of Citizen Services and Communications (OCSC).

Additionally, GSA's Deputy Associate Administrator of Citizen Services, Martha Dorris (OCSC), was recognized for her personal work with the American Council for Technology.  Cathy Beasley, a GSA contracting officer who has since retired from federal service, also was recognized for her work last year.
