GSA Earns CoreNet Global Innovator AwardGSA #10417 November 5, 2007 Atlanta, GA — The U.S. General Services Administration’s use of innovative technology to manage the federal government’s real estate portfolio has landed GSA the prestigious H. Bruce Russell Global Innovator’s Award, the agency announced today. “Winning a CoreNet Global Innovation Award is a top-of-the line achievement for GSA,” said David Winstead, Commissioner of GSA’s Public Buildings Service. “The program has proactively and successfully improved the delivery of capital projects. Through its use, GSA has been able to reduce costs while improving quality, accuracy and efficiency on GSA projects.” Honored recently during the CoreNet Global Summit, GSA received the corporate real estate award on Oct. 29, 2007, for its use of innovative technology to more efficiently manage a portfolio of 8,600 federal assets. GSA’s national 3D-4D-BIM (Building Information Modeling) program was recognized for collaboration between end users and service providers. CoreNet Global is the world’s leading professional association for corporate real estate, serving leading multinational companies from the Fortune and Global 1000. The 3D-4D-BIM program was selected from three finalists who presented their innovations before a panel of senior corporate real estate professionals and leading academics at Harvard University in August 2006. GSA’s Workplace Matters program was also a finalist for the award. To date, PBS has completed more than 60 pilots on ongoing capital projects. The pilots incorporated a variety of the program technologies to address different programming, design and construction challenges faced by ongoing capital projects.
