GSA Awards Performance-Based IT Support Task for SEC
August 7, 2001 WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. General Services Administration has announced the selection of DynCorp Information & Enterprise Technology to provide agency-wide information technology (IT) infrastructure support services for the Securities and Exchange Commission in a performance-based task order with a potential first year value in excess of $8.2 million. Part of GSA's Federal Technology Service, the Federal Systems Integration and Management Center (FEDSIM) is a large-scale IT systems integrator. Competitively awarded through GSA's Millennia contract, the eight-year task order features incentives for contractor performance based on various measured criteria, including customer satisfaction and maintaining specific service levels. Recent changes in federal acquisition regulations specify that performance-based acquisitions are the preferred method of purchase for IT services. "FEDSIM has been leading the effort in acquiring performance-based IT services with over $331 million in performance-based tasks in just the last few months," said Bob Suda, Assistant Commissioner for GSA's Office of Information Technology Solutions. The DynCorp support services task includes managing and operating all SEC IT infrastructure facilities nationwide, other than the EDGAR (Electronic Data Gathering Analysis and Retrieval) system. It includes two data centers, a high speed, nationwide, switched network, help desk operations, technology test lab support and technology deployment support. PlanetGov and Compaq are among subcontractors included on DynCorp's team. The task order is aimed toward consolidating a number of infrastructure contracts so as to improve efficiency, accountability and across-the-board agency-wide customer support. FEDSIM offers a wide range of support for planning, developing, acquiring, implementing, maintaining, and managing IT resources and support services. Managing over $1 billion in new IT acquisitions in 2000, FEDSIM has a proven track record of developing innovative and award-winning solutions to government IT problems and for satisfying requirements for specific IT products and services. Millennia is a multiple-award, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract vehicle which enables GSA to meet federal demand for large systems integration and development projects by supporting its clients in a timely and cost-effective manner.
