OPM, DOI and GSA to Host Earth Day 2001 CelebrationGSA # 9813 April 13, 2001 WASHINGTON, D.C. - Live entertainment, fun giveaways and exhibit booths are among many attractions planned for an Earth Day 2001 Celebration to be hosted by the U.S. General Services Administration, the Department of the Interior and the Office of Personnel Management next week. The GSA Band will offer live entertainment for the event and will share the stage as the Department of Interior Choral Ensemble lends its vocal talents to the celebration. Younger visitors to the celebration are sure to enjoy a musical presentation from fourth grade students from Magnolia Elementary School of Lanham, MD. The Earth Day 2001 celebration will feature GSA guest speakers including Acting Deputy Administrator David Bibb; National Capital Region Acting Regional Administrator Annie W. Everett; and Environmental Executive Paul Lynch. Featured speakers from DOI include Director of Environmental Policy and Compliance, Dr. Willie R. Taylor, and Superintendent of the National Parks Service, National Capital Region, National Capital Parks-Central, Arnold Goldstein. President and Chief Executive Officer of Earth Share Kalman Stein will also be a featured speaker at the celebration. The Earth Day celebration will be held in Rawlins Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., April 19, at E Street, N.W., between 18th and 19th Streets (between GSA and DOI headquarters buildings). Visitors will enjoy browsing through exhibit booths on display and will get a chance to view many environmentally friendly products. Free food, drinks and other giveaways will also be offered during the celebration. Workers from the Federal agencies will join millions of people around the world of different backgrounds, races, colors and religions to celebrate Earth Day, a global show of appreciation for the important balance between the earth's inhabitants and its resources.
