Research Project: OPTIMAL ENERGY PATHWAY TO RENEWABLE DOMESTIC JP-8

Objective:
Using biotechnology and biodiversity searches, select approximately five candidate crops for alternative crop feedstock assessment. Cultivate and harvest seeds from candidate crops. Seeds will be analyzed for oil content and composition/content of medium chain fatty acids.

Approach:
Multi-site field studies will be conducted to evaluate seed oil properties and agronomic characteristics of candidate crop species and how they are influenced by growth environment. Results will be assessed to determine the feasibility of present and future production in the U.S.
