1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
Assist ARS field research team in faunal studies of native bees. Provide York intern with experience in field techniques for studying native bee faunas.
1b.Approach (from AD-416)
York intern will work with field research team on all aspects of project under supervision of PI and field supervisor. Intern will learn techniques for collecting bees, GIS referencing locations, identifying bees and the plants they pollinate.
3.Progress Report
This report serves to document research conducted under an international non-funded cooperative agreement between ARS and York University in Canada. Additional details of the research can be found in the report for the parent project 5428-21000-010-00D Pollinating-Insect Biology, Management, and Systematics Research. This agreement was initiated to establish a joint program of internships that provides York University graduate and undergraduate students with professional training. This year, two graduate students from York University used the National Pollinator Collection housed at the ARS lab in Logan, UT to facilitate the identification of bees they had collected in a survey of bee diversity in the U.S. and Canada. ADODR monitoring activities included phone calls, e-mails, meetings.
