2004 Annual Report
4.What were the most significant accomplishments this past year?
D. Progress Report.
This report serves to document research that will be conducted under a Specific Cooperative Agreement between ARS and Dr. John Gray at the University of Toledo. Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent CRIS 3607-21000-008-00D Develop New or Improved Methods of Hydroponic and Greenhouse Production and Pest Protection.
This SCA officially began May 2004. Since that time, we have extended offers to two graduate students to begin work on this project and they have accepted. They are due to arrive at the end of August. We have also identified 10 candidates for a 2 post-doctoral positions outlined in the SCA. We expect to extend offers to the top two within weeks. We are testing bedding plants to determine ideal species to work with at the molecular level and are refining hydroponic thechniques to maximize root biomass production.
