Research Project: JOINT PURCHASE OF SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPES

Location: Application Technology Research Unit

2006 Annual Report

4d.Progress report.
This report serves to document research conducted under a Non Funded Cooperative Agreement between ARS and Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, The Ohio State University. Additional details can be found in the report for the parent 3607- 21620-006-00D Biological, Microclimate, and Transport Processes Affecting Pest Control Application Technology.

This agreement authorizes ARS to house a cold-field emission scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive x-ray analytical and accessories to conduct the indicated research in the state-owned facility, the Molecular and Cellular Imaging Center. The cold-field emission scanning electron microscope is being used to detect disease casual agents and to track pesticide coverage. The latter will help explain the basis for efficacy.
